Brand History and Description –
Tokuji Hayakawa, a Japanese inventor set up a metal workshop in Tokyo in 1912. His first invention was ‘Tokubijo’, a snap buckle. In 1915 he invented an ‘Ever-Sharp’ mechanical pencil from which the name of the company ‘Sharp Corporation’ was derived. This pencil business after being destroyed by Great Kanto earthquake in 1923 the production set got relocated to Osaka. The company started manufacturing radio sets of the first generation in Japan and the first lot hit the market in 1925. In 1953 the company introduced its first television set.
