Brand History and Description –
The Panasonic brand was founded in 1955 by Matsushita for the American region as their original brand that was doing business in the Japanese home market was already registered and in use by others. The term Panasonic was coined from the words “pan” denoting “all” or “bread” and “sonic”, indicating sound. This is so because Panasonic first worked with audio equipment. The brand also sold the very first bread machine. Matsushita announced on January 10th, 2008 that it planned to change the name of the company to Panasonic Corporation. This was ultimately bright into effect from October 1st, 2008 at the annual shareholder’s meeting of the firm held on June 26.
