Brand History and Description –
Robert Bosch established Robert Bosch GmbH, or simply Bosch in 1886. Bosch with its headquarters in Gerlingen, near Stuttgart in Germany, is a multinational company manufacturing engineering and electrical components for automobiles. In terms of revenue generated, Bosch was globally the largest manufacturer of automobile components in 2011.
Bosch’s automotive products include fuel systems, electrical drives, starter motors, generators, controls, electrical drivers, steering systems, and brakes. The company is also into manufacturing industrial items like packaging tools, controls, drives and power tools. Building products, security systems, and household appliances are its other line of manufactured items.
The company has several acquisitions to its credit: In 2012 it acquired SPX Service Solutions, and Shanti Auto Electrical in Budaun; in 2014 it set up dialogues with Red Bend Software for its acquisition; in 2014 it bought 100 percent share of the earlier Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH and BSH Bosch joint venture; in 2015 Bosch purchased Seeo Inc., a start-up company innovating on solid-state Li-ion batteries; in the same year it took 100 percent control of ZF Lenksysteme GmbH, a steering systems 50:50 joint venture with ZF Friedrichshafen.
n 2013, Bosch exited from its solar power components business. In 2014, the company was awarded U.S. Smart Partner for Physical Security prize from Ingram Micro Inc.
